We want you to be aware about a recently disclosed hardware security vulnerability affecting almost every server globally. You will see many news stories, especially in tech media, but here is a link describing the issue for reference.
The plan we have in place was created in conjunction with our infrastructure partner, IBM Cloud. It should prevent this vulnerability from being exploited.
To mitigate this hardware vulnerability, the Linux kernel must be patched. We will be performing critical and unavoidable security maintenance operation including a reboot of our public platforms in order to protect the integrity of the platforms. There will be downtime for all sites.
We will reboot each of the public platforms at approximately 11PM, server local time.
For Texas 1 & 2 and Amsterdam 1 & 2, downtime could be as long as an hour. All other platforms should reboot more quickly.
Further, it may be necessary that we temporarily suspend automated backups on some platforms, in order to complete this critical operation. We apologize in advance for any impact this may have on your sites.
For MODX Cloud customers with Private Servers and High Availability environments, you will receive individual notices related to this security patch operation.
If you have any questions about this maintenance operation, please reply to this notice or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
